The General Secretariat plays a key role in the administrative and technical management of the Forum, under the leadership of a Secretary General elected by the Speakers of the Member Parliaments. It is composed of international staff, whose composition and functions are defined by the Plenary Assembly.

To better fulfill its missions, the Plenary Assembly of the FP-ICGLR relies on several thematic Standing Committees. It may also establish, as necessary, special or temporary commissions to support the objectives of the Forum.

Responsible for the operational coordination of the Forum, the Executive Committee brings together representatives of member parliaments under the direction of the Bureau of the Plenary Assembly. It ensures the proper implementation of decisions, makes recommendations and meets regularly to follow up on the Forum's activities.

The Plenary Assembly, the supreme organ of the PF-ICGLR, brings together the parliamentary delegations of the Member States to deliberate on the main orientations of the Forum. With broad decision-making powers, it plays a central role in the adoption of texts, the budget and resolutions to promote peace, stability and governance in the Great Lakes region.
