The Forum of Parliaments of the Member States of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR), with the support of the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), is organising the Seventh Statutory Meeting of the Peace and Security Commission on 1 September 2020. The meeting will be held via videoconference from 13:00 to 16:00 Kinshasa time (GMT +1), due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The FP-ICGLR is an inter-parliamentary organization composed of 12 National Parliaments of the ICGLR Member States, namely; the Republic of Angola, the Republic of Burundi, the Central African Republic (CAR), the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, the Republic of South Sudan, the Republic of the Sudan, the United Republic of Tanzania, the Republic of Uganda and the Republic of Zambia.
The main objective of the FP-ICGLR is to make a significant parliamentary contribution to the implementation of the Pact on Security, Stability and Development in the Great Lakes Region.
In accordance with the decision of the 10th Ordinary Session of the Plenary Assembly held in Bujumbura, Republic of Burundi, in December 2019, this 7th Statutory Meeting of the Committee on Peace and Security will focus on the report of the 6th Statutory Meeting of the Committee held on 4th December 2019 in Bujumbura, Republic of Burundi ; the assessment report on The Implication of COVID-19 Pandemic on Peace and Security: The Case of ICGLR Member-States and the preliminary draft resolution on mitigating the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Great Lakes Region.
This meeting will be attended by parliamentarians who are nominated to serve in the Committee on Peace and Security.
