Welcome to the Forum of Parliaments of ICGLR

The Forum of Parliaments of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR) is an inter-parliamentary organization composed of 12 National Parliaments of the ICGLR Member States.


The main objective of the FP-ICGLR is to provide a platform for exchange of experiences, conflict resolution and dialogue between the Parliaments of the Member States of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region, among other things.

OUR MISSION

The Mission of the FP-ICGLR is to work for the prosperity and stability of the ICGLR Member States through the establishment and entrenchment of Democracy Good Governanace, the Principle of Rule of Law and the fight against Poverty in the Great Lakes region.

The Vision of the Forum of Parliaments is to establish a parliamentary platform working for the Member States of the ICGLR to be a space for Peace, Stablity and Development.

Democratic Structure

Each country is represented on the Forum by the Speaker of Parliament as head of delegation as well as six Members of Parliament (MPs). This ensures balanced and democratic participation from all member nations.

Annual Leadership: Every year during the annual Plenary Assembly, a Speaker from one of the Member-Parliaments is elected as President of the organisation.



Sustainable Partnership

The main funding of the organisation comes from annual contributions by Member-States through their respective Parliaments, ensuring independence and sustainability.

Regional Impact: The FP-CIRGL plays an essential role in strengthening cooperation between our parliaments, thus contributing to the stability and prosperity of our region.
