Kinshasa, September 13, 2021: The Forum of Parliaments of Member States of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR) is organizing the Fourth Meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee on Finance, on 29th September and the Twenty-Third Ordinary Session of the Executive Committee, from 30th September to 1st October 2021, in Nairobi, Kenya.
The FP-ICGLR is an inter-parliamentary organization composed of 12 National Parliaments of the ICGLR Member States namely the Republic of Angola, the Republic of Burundi, the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, the Republic of South Sudan, the Republic of the Sudan, the United Republic Tanzania, the Republic of Uganda and the Republic of Zambia.
The main objective of the FP-ICGLR is to make a significant parliamentary contribution to the implementation of the Pact on Security, Stability and Development in the Great Lakes Region.
The Fourth Meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee on Finance will focus on the analysis of the Annual Financial and Activity Report of FP-ICGLR from January to August 2021. The delegates will also discuss about the implementation of the hybrid method of annual contributions and receive an update on the preparation of the 2022 budget.
On the other hand, the Twenty-Third Ordinary Session of the Executive Committee, to be held from September 30 to October 1, 2021, will focus on the activities carried out from January to August 2021. It will also review the recent developments in the political, security and humanitarian situation in the Great Lakes region in general, and in particular in ICGLR Member States beset by insecurity and armed conflict, namely the Central African Republic, the Republic of South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Sudan and the briefing on Statutory Committee meetings and other activities. The Executive Committee is the organ of FP-ICGLR responsible for coordinating the activities and the functioning of the organization.
These meetings will be attended by Parliamentarians nominated to serve on the two Committees.
